Things I’ve learned about New York.

I’ve been here for like, I don’t know, 4 days now? I’ve spent most of my time ordering room service and listening to old r’n’b records, but I did venture in the Big Apple between studio time and “beatrice is too beat from studio time” time.

1. Boys have this strict dress code around here : Peacoats, Levi’s 510s, laced up boots and slicked back hair. Starting to think boys think they’re sailors around here. Can’t say that’s a bad thing.

2. Girls just dress too well for their own good. I feel self conscious walking down the street and I like to think that I know how to dress.

3. Whole Foods. Why we don’t have Whole Foods in Montreal just BREAKS MY HEART.

4. Going to Whole Foods is like attending your favourite indie rock band’s only show in your town in the next year or so. Or Coachella. You get my point? Again, felt out of fashion while grocery shopping.

5. People jog on Broadway. People jog anywhere. Which, on a saturday afternoon in New York can become a real task.

6. It’s easy to spot celebrities in New York. I mean, they’re the only ones wearing the sunglasses inside.

7. Red Velvet Cupcakes.

8. It’s impossible to get a reservation anywhere. Unless you know someone, that know’s someone that knows someone.

9. Having the Topshop next to your hotel can become a problem.

10. Don’t go on museums on weekends. Or on Fridays for that matter. Just trust me.
